The Texture Oil Effect lets you use any of the 5 Texture or Noise slots in the Texture Pane and use that Texture, with an oil paint filter, in your painting. Since you can use multiple Effects at the same time, you can use multiple Texture Effects with different Textures (up to 5). Textures are either Noise or a Photo from your Photo Album.|
The Texture Oil Effect is identical to the Texture Effect with the addition of an oil paint effect.
If you enable the Fit To Brush Option you will paint with the Texture Oil sized to your brush.
The Texture Oil Effect has the following Options Pane:|
|Texture Slot:||Use this to select the Texture Slot you want to user from the Texture Pane. The dark green circle is the currently selected Texture, the lighter yellowish circles are not selected. Remember that any Texture slot can contain either a Photo from your Photo Album, or Noise. The Texture slot you pick does not have to have a Texture in it yet - however, if you try to paint you will get a warning that you need to load a missing Texture.|
|Oil Drop Radius:||This controls the size of the oil drop. Oil is irregular, but this sets the average size. Smaller values have less of an oil look, large value have an extreme oil look.|
|Fit To Brush:||If set to a Red X the Effect spans the screen such that as you paint you reveal the Effect. When set to a Green Check Mark the Effect is sized to the brush such that as you paint the entire Effect is within the brush itself.|
|Output Color 1:||By default this is set to REPLACE which means that the set color will be output to Color 1. You can change this as explained in Options Pane Color Mixers.|
|Output Color 2:||By default this is set to IGNORE which means that the Color 2 will be ignored (the original Color 2 will be kept). You can change this as explained in Options Pane Color Mixers.|
To show the Texture Oil Effect we again have loaded our Arches National Park photo into our Texture Pane slot 1:|
In this next image we have used the default Texture Oil values:
